North Country Scenics
Here are some scenics from the remote area near the town of Pittsburg, New Hampshire up in ‘Moose Alley’. We found the two vistas by talking to locals on two separate occasions. My motto is ‘it never hurts to ask’! There was no cell service in this area and only 3 places to get a bite to eat. One of the places closed at 7:00 which didn’t fit our schedule of trying to catch sunset and the second place was only open on the days we would not be there. We were happy that the one place that was open was quite cozy and affordable. When I asked a woman about the winters she said they were ‘long’ and that it usually started snowing around Halloween and didn’t show any signs of warming until Memorial Day. She said that winter was actually their busiest time as the area attracts many snowmobile enthusiasts. On our last day we drove up to a steep mountain to say goodbye to the area. We laughed when we saw a flag planted on top … like pictures we had seen from Mt. Everest.
