Something always seems to happen to me this time of year whereby I am compelled to join the legions of other photographers, focusing on flowers! As if never seen before, I am in awe of the incredible beauty and colors these wonderful subjects bring. Being among flowers, examining and photographing them can act to renew the spirit, especially after a long winter! So, please forgive me … here are a few more images from a recent trip to Longwood Gardens.
I doubt you will get any complaints about flower photos from anyone who has had this long winter! These are lovely!
Thank you Maggie! I’m off to photograph more right now!
Beautiful.
As you mention, flowers have been done so many times, but I still appreciate them, especially when done as well as your photos. It is a instant mood lifter for me and makes me eager for when flowers begin to bloom in my little corner of the world. 🙂
I guess flowers are a lot like sunrise and sunset images … since I never tire of them either. Thanks for visiting and taking the time to comment!
You are forgiven and we are blessed that you are sharing your beautiful obsession.
Thank you for your forgiveness and compliment!
So glad you “lost control” and went crayzee with this whole “flowers” thing! Beautiful…
Thanks for coming back for another visit!
Among all those beautiful photographs I feel fascinated with “poppy close-up” and “hibiscus center” the first because seems a radiant exploding, and peaceful at the same time, planet, and the latter looks simply delicious 🙂
Thanks so much Francis … the red pink and yellow colors do look yummy!
Beautiful! Seems aliens can be found everywhere if you just know where to look, right? 😉
And, aliens can be very, very small! Thanks for the visit and comment!
The top image is wonderful, so full of detail. MM 🍀🌷
Thanks Mick. The poppies were difficult because that pistil was so long. Shooting it somewhat sideways helped to get a little more in focus.
Thanks for the like on ‘bird photo-bombs…’ Looks like you have many wonderful photos here.
And thank you for coming by to take a look!
All so pretty Denise!!
Thank you Kathleen! Hope to see you soon.
Fabulous images!
Thanks for the nice comment!
These images are beautiful, my favorite being “Alien Encounter”.
Thank you … I am not sure what that particular flower was. I will have to see if they still have them next time I go.
Nicely done, Beautiful colors and detail. Especially, after their long winters sleep.
Thanks Russ!
Never can get enough of beautiful flower shots…. thankfully it is finally spring!!! 🙂
Thanks for checking in and leaving a comment Mickey!
I hate flower shots as much as the next person. Well, maybe there are some people who like flower shots, I’ll concede that. But I’m not one of them. And yet, and yet…. Don’t make me say it! OK, ok, I like these. Don’t know why, though. That’s all I’m admitting to.
Thanks for the confession Emilio! I think it is easy for photogs to feel good about their flower shots because flowers are ‘pretty’. As I have progressed with my photography though I think capturing them to my liking has become more difficult. I am not just looking for a capture of a pretty flower but the right background, light, depth of field and processing in order to create an image I am pleased with.
That definitely makes sense. Thanks for your reply. I might now look at flower photos differently.
Let another flower person chime in. I’m guilty as well. I love flowers and I enjoy shooting them. I was out on our Red Trail yesterday looking for wildflowers…maybe another week. These in your post are lovely and I think Poised Poppy is just about perfect.
Thanks Ralph! Happy spring!
Beautiful images. You are inspiring me to crawl around my own backyard with my macro lens. Spring is here.
Yes … get out there! Thanks for checking in.
Beautiful, one can never tire at looking at natures beauty and you capture it so well!
Thank you Deb. Looking forward to photographing more flowers and flowering trees in the next couple of weeks.
your pics are beautiful!

Excellent work. The poppy close-up is fantastic!
Thanks so much! I’m glad you like them.
SO beautiful! ♥
Thanks for clicking and leaving a comment!
I’m glad you can’t help yourself as these are truly beautiful
Oh … thank you so much!
I’m with you on that. 😀 Spring came and I became completely fascinated with flowers, and was thinking the same thing … Every Spring I get fixated on them. I especially LOVE the 3rd one. What is the name of this flower?
Sorry, just realized the name is right under the photography. I don’t think I’ve seen a Poppy in the color of blue. Beautiful!
I’ve seen them called Himilayan or African Poppies. I imagine there are different varieties like other flowers. The detail on the pistil was a little different on the few that were there. Thank you for visiting my blog and taking the time to leave a comment. Enjoy your spring … and flowers!
beautiful shots!
Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment!
All your shots are wonderful but your poppies are so beautiful!!
Thanks Bonnie! Now we have to wait a whole year before we can photograph them again. 😦
Denise, your poppy flowers are SPECTACULAR!
Thank you Cindy. Those blue poppies are really something special!
“Poppy Close Up” is fabulous! Who would think that they have so much texture in them? So cool….
Thanks. I used a small hand-held video light to light them. Sidelight and backlight seemed to work best in bringing out the texture in the petals.
It’s hard to resist those beauties after a tough winter. Lovely images, Denise.
Thanks so much for visiting. I really love your work and blog. You are a wonderful artist!
wonderful images!
Thank you Riccardo!
Perfectly captured.
