Sneak Peek
Here is a sneak peak at a series of images I am working on. They were shot at Pennhurst State School and Hospital located less than an hour west of Philadelphia. I had been wanting to photograph at Pennhurst for some time and finally got my chance. The campus consists of several buildings and we were allowed to photograph in two that were three-stories each. After learning of the sad history and chilling abuse that took place there, the experience was like none other … evocative and haunting. As I looked and photographed, I couldn’t help but imagine what it was like for the many unfortunate souls that were put there, and forgotten. And I continue to think about them. Pennhurst made an unforgettable impression. (Look for more images from this shoot in an upcoming post.)
I am leading a Private Group Photo Tour to Pennhurst on Sunday, August 24th. If you would like all the details let me know by leaving a note in the comments area below this post.

Thank you! I have been attracted to abandoned places since I was a kid. I find it fascinating to imagine what these places were like back in the day and enjoy witnessing nature’s process of reclaiming them.
Reblogged this on Whereof One Can Speak.
Thank you Larry!
Very nice images, Denise. I do have an interest, but coming from DC, it may be hard and will depend on the date. But keep me informed of your plans.
It will start in the morning Robin. I am not sure how many hours it would be for you.
Denise, I love the photos you’re showing from this place. I had heard of it but have never been, so would be VERY interested in attending. Thanks for sharing and for setting it up.
Great Vicki! I should have details to those interested soon. I don’t think I will have any problem filling it. Perhaps I can do it again too.

Wouldn’t mind flying down to PA to join you on one of your next opportunities when you go back working in this building. Fantastic!
I will include you when I have all the details.

I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own blog and was wondering what all is required to get setup? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very internet smart so I’m not 100% certain. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
WordPress blogs are free believe it or not. They are also quite user friendly. Start by joining and then search ‘wordpress blog tutorials’. Basically you pick out a template which they call a ‘theme’ and then go from there. There are people who blog about blogging and have a lot of tips. You will find them if you search.
