Intimate & Isolated

07Oct18

For this post I’ve gathered some more intimate portrayals of beautiful, fall aspen trees. The aspens are the one and only subject in these images. They are isolated from other features, allowing us to focus on the trees alone. This year we had an abundance of oranges and reds in the mix and I was drawn to the deeper colors … like a magnet! I enjoyed composing these and it’s often the intimate images that feel more personal to me. And as you’ll see I created some fun abstracts too, adding them to my ‘Nature Abstracts & Patterns’ gallery in my online store. I’ve been able to get out with my camera a lot this fall. There will be several more autumn posts to come that include aspen trees as one of the elements in the scenes … so stay tuned, and thanks for visiting!

  1. Great images, Denise. I absolutely love “Fall Focus”.

  2. Lovely images, like the straight and narrow.

  3. Like!…All Autumn Colors, Fall Frenzy, and Straight & Narrow.

    • Hello! Thank you for letting me know your likes. ‘Straight & Narrow’ seems to be a favorite. It’s one of those ‘been done before’ shots but pretty to look at nevertheless.

    Love “Straight and narrow”!
Beautiful series and love all the color!

    • Thank you Deb. I am always looking for clean patches of aspens for this kind of shot. It’s surprising how difficult they are to find without dead or leaning trunks and branches in the way.

  5. Beautiful series!

  6. So nice! All beautiful, though ‘Straight and Narrow’ really appeals to me. Aspens are so pleasing to the eye.

    • Thank you Eliza! They are very pleasing … I agree and so do the hundreds of photographers who flock here to capture their beauty! 🙂

  7. Doing well with the colors this season. 🙂

Very beautiful images, Denise. My favorites are All Autumn Colors and Straight & Narrow. I especially like the way you brought out the white trunks in my 2nd fav.

    • Thank you Ken. Aspen trunks can vary in color. Some are grey or tanish in color but the really white trunks are most striking. I did some work to keep these bright.

My grandson was recently in Dillon for a week he said the trees were spectacular of course you have shown us every kind of tree and they are beautiful you’re so fortunate to live where you do miss seeing you Denise

    • Hi Ginny — This set is all aspen trees … lots of orange and red this year. One of the weather guys said it was because the trees were stressed from the drought. Miss seeing you too!

  10. Beautiful gallery.

  11. Beautiful colours indeed!

  12. Beautiful images!

  13. As always, lovely. Enjoyed the surprise of your vortex pics!

  14. They are so vibrant and you did a good job of composing them in isolation.

  15. I absolutely love All Autumn Colors and Straight and Narrow. Those abstracts are very cool. You certainly are having a brilliant fall.

  16. I’m glad you’ve been able to get out so much, Denise, it must be so invigorating, all that cool air and brilliant color. I can’t resist the repeating shapes and cool whites of Straight and Narrow….but I like Fall Frenzy too. When the wind blows, it can be like that. 🙂 And I’d love to see the last image done really huge, with the feeling you could walk into it. Fallen leaves are a great subject. Have a great week!

    • Thanks Lynn! We have been getting some snow and it happens to be snowing right now, and accumulating on my deck. If it clears I will go out later. The peaks are so pretty but it is getting harder to find nice patches of autumn color. We could use good snowpack this year … all the reservoirs are very low. Mentally preparing for a long winter.

  17. Your fall colors are gorgeous! I love the oranges and reds too, but don’t see that many of them mixed with the Aspens here.

I like the fun you had with your creative ICM images.

    • Seems we had much more reds and oranges this year. One of the weather guys suggested it was because the trees were stressed from drought. Thanks for your visit and comment! 🙂

  18. Hard to beat those aspens. I’ll join the crowd on the straight and narrow. Bet that one would look good in b/w too.
