Better Late Than Never

I am a bit late posting my 2014 website photo gallery … a yearly tradition since 2003. This 12th year of digital photography took me on some fun photo adventures with the highlight being a trip to Iceland. It was something my friends and I had anticipated for almost two years and it did not disappoint! Locations near and not so far make up the rest of the gallery and I hope you will enjoy taking a look. Now I can check ‘2014 gallery’ off my to-do list and as mother would say, ‘better late than never!’ (Click the picture to see the gallery.)

Iceland III

Here’s the next set of random images from my September trip to Iceland. This group highlights some of the mossy terrain we encountered throughout the trip. There were lava rocks everywhere, often covered with bright green moss. Walking on it was fun … like being in a ‘moon bounce’. I think you’ll get a sense for Iceland’s cloudy, rainy weather here. Although it was mostly unwanted, it really brought out the greens in the landscape. On our eighth day we woke up to a fresh coating of snow in the high elevations, and sunrise in the opposite direction, lit up the clouds and mountain peaks in deep pink. Signs of fall were displayed in the grasses and low bushes, with yellows and oranges mingling in. In the weeks leading up to the trip I was following the volcano news, afraid of the threat that Bardarbunga might explode, spewing gray ash on the landscape. I’m so very thankful that did not happen so I was able to experience Iceland’s beautiful and diverse colors.

There’s more photos to come, I just need to find the time to process them. To see the previous Iceland posts click on ‘Denise Bush’s Photo Blog’ at the top and scroll down.

All Aboard!

In this post I am featuring the train portion of my Lancaster day trip. After exploring the Strasburg Railroad Station for a while we headed over to the Pennsylvania State Railroad Museum. Here they have many restored trains, models and nice displays. Rather than going for ‘pictures of trains’ I mostly focused in on train parts, close-ups and still life set-ups. The great thing about the museum is that they do allow you to use your tripod indoors. There are also some old, rusty trains outdoors that have not been restored. If you go, I would suggest going mid-week to avoid crowds. There was plenty of subject matter and it was fun place to photograph.

Goodbye to Spring

On this first day to Summer I thought I’d bid farewell to Spring by sharing a few of the many flower photographs I’ve shot in the last few months. They were captured at various locations from Longwood Gardens to my own yard. Here they are in no particular order:

As the saying goes … ‘when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.’ So I say, ‘when life gives you snow, make snowtographs!’ Here are a couple more snow photos that I have submitted as stock images. These are more generic than those in the previous post and could be useful to graphic designers who want to add their message in a creative way.
